Handmade Sheepskin Moccasins Information
Our moccasins are handcrafted, eco-friendly indoor footwear designed for comfort and warmth. Made from sheepskin and wool, offer a sustainable alternative to mass-produced slippers. Features like sheepskin uppers, wool lining, and leather soles contribute to their cosiness and durable nature.

They are handcrafted by Polish family in beautiful Tatra Mountains using traditional methods, passed down through generations as the history of highlander slippers dates back to the 18th century, when the inhabitants of Podhale and the surrounding areas began producing footwear for themselves and their families. Slippers were originally made of canvas or leather, and it was not until the 19th century that sheepskin began to be used, which proved to be more durable and adapted to the difficult mountain conditions.
Artisans design each pair individually, considering the natural variations in the sheepskin’s thickness. They then carefully cut the sheepskin into the required shapes, ensuring minimal waste and optimal comfort.
The cut pieces are stitched together using strong, durable thread. This process requires precision to ensure the slippers’ durability and comfort. A hardened suede leather sole is attached to the bottom of each slipper. This sole softens after 2–3 days of wear, adapting to the shape of the foot for enhanced comfort.
Entirely Handcrafted
Sole
Our moccasin soles are are one of a kind as crafted by hand from leather using age-old Polish methods. The raw leather, naturally tinted in shades of blue and grey, is first soaked in a mild saltwater solution before being shaped over wooden lasts. As the leather dries, it hardens and takes on its final form. It’s then trimmed to size, and small holes are carefully punched by hand along the upper edge—these allow the soles to be stitched to the uppers.
For added comfort, the soles are lined with a wool layer.
While the soles may initially feel stiff, they soon soften with wear, adapting to the contours of your foot to provide a supportive, personalised fit.
Health Properties
It is worth mentioning that highlander slippers made of natural sheepskin also have health properties. Thanks to natural sheepskin, these shoes provide adequate ventilation and moisture absorption, which is beneficial for the health of the feet. In addition, sheepskin has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which prevents the development of skin diseases.
Our moccasins slippers are also suitable for people struggling with joint or muscle diseases.
Size & Fit
We recommend ordering true to size.
The fit should be comfortable yet snug. Toes should touch the top of the slipper, but not be curled under or uncomfortable.
Slippers will feel firm at first, however, within a few wears, sole will soften and mould to your feet.
